Our 3d printers have been in nearly constant use, serving as an essential resource for a wide range of projects across disciplines. Science, engineering, and art classes use them for hands-on projects that connect classroom lessons to real-world applications. Our Science Olympiad and robotics teams rely on 3D printing to create custom parts, test prototypes, and develop innovative designs that would be impossible to produce otherwise. Even outside of structured class time, students are eager to explore—using their free periods to print toys, game controllers, and other objects they design themselves. This level of engagement demonstrates how access to 3D printing technology inspires creativity, curiosity, and a genuine love of learning.\r\n\r\nAccess to 3D printers brings innovation and creativity to education by transforming students from passive learners into active creators. Students design, build, and test their own ideas, applying math, science, and engineering concepts to produce tangible results. For example my engineering students used the 3d printer to design and create test tube racks for the middle school science classes. Through experiences like these. Students gain valuable practice with the engineering design process—learning to iterate, problem-solve, and improve their designs. These skills go far beyond the classroom, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance that are essential for success in higher education and future careers.\r\n\r\nThe new 3D printer funded through this project will ensure that more students can have meaningful, hands-on experiences without long wait times or equipment limitations. With expanded printing capacity, more classes and teams will be able to work on projects simultaneously, broadening access to all students. This resource will continue to support our growing robotics and Science Olympiad programs while enriching science, engineering, and art education throughout our school.
