Simple items such as fidget tools, squishy fidgets, journals, motivational stickers, and organization baskets that make materials easier to see and access have helped transform the space into one that feels welcoming and supportive. When students first noticed the new materials, many expressed excitement and curiosity. Several students immediately gravitated toward the baskets and fidget tools, smiling, asking questions, and commenting on how much they liked having things they could hold or use while they talked.\r\n\r\nBeyond the initial excitement, the impact has been clear in students' behavior. Since the addition of these materials, students have been visiting the counseling office more frequently, often stopping in just to check in, talk, or take a moment to reset during a stressful day. The fidget tools and journals provide students with simple, healthy ways to manage stress or anxiety while they share what is on their minds. Because the materials are easy to see and access, students feel comfortable selecting something that helps them regulate their emotions while we talk.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these resources have helped lower the barrier for students to seek support. What may seem like small items have created an environment where students feel safe, relaxed, and more willing to open up. The increased number of visits shows that students are recognizing the counseling office as a place where they are welcome and supported. Thanks to the generosity of donors, students now have tools that help them feel calmer, more focused, and more comfortable reaching out when they need someone to talk to.","fullyFundedDate":1768173021591,"projectUrl":"project/high-school-students-need-coping-tools/10002769/","projectTitle":"High School Students Need Coping Tools, Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Devinson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8156765_orig.jpg?crop=640,640,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1706557149032","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8156765"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_63711","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":218,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":8,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"11 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"36.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":63711,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about College of S Nevada High School - West on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"College of S Nevada High School - West","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/clark-county-school-district/college-s-nv-high-school-w-charleston/63711"}
