At the beginning of this school year, on the first day of our dyslexia therapy sessions for the year, I read aloud, \"A Walk in the Words' by Hudson Talbott to each small group. 'A Walk in the Words is a powerful story that beautifully reflects the daily journey many of my students experience. This book validates their struggles and celebrates their strength and resilience. It has opened the door for meaningful conversations about courage, perseverance, and finding one's own pace in a world that often moves too fast.\r\n\r\n Reading in my classroom looks a little different. We break down language into small, manageable steps and celebrate every victory, whether decoding a tricky word or reading a full sentence fluently for the first time. These quiet and monumental moments are the heartbeat of what I do. A Walk in the Words became more than just a read-aloud; it became a mirror in which students could see themselves and a map for how to keep moving forward.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom looks a little different. The excitement in the room, when it's time for B-Days, is incredible; students eagerly gather their books and materials, thrilled to share their thoughts and reflections on our explored stories. Witnessing their enthusiasm as they venture into new genres and styles is a delight. Many have asked if it's a B-Day and whether we'll be reading that day—moments like these fill me with joy, especially knowing that many of them once struggled with reading but are now flourishing.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for believing in our students and investing in their future.
