We are currently in our 3rd week of 1st grade. I teach reading and language arts to two classes. The resources thay this project funded have been so helpful as we start the year. The blue folders help us to stay organized as I send lots of forms home so parents know what needs to be returned and what can stay at home. The copy paper is always a top priority! My students are working on projects for Open House to welcome their families. We are also doing lots of handwriting practice and practicing the parts of a sentence. The copy paper helps me to create structured practice for them. The small mirrors are so important as I teach phonics. They allow students to see the way their lips and tongue move when forming the sounds of the letters. In turn, this will help them to be more comfortable when sounding out and blending words. Lastly, the All About Me posters have been so fun as they work on them to display for Open House and help us learn about each other as we create our Classroom Family. They will continue to use these resources throughout the year in their journey to reading fluency!
