As a newer educator, your book donations helped transform my classroom library into one that feels thoughtfully built, well-loved, and truly student-centered. More importantly, you placed powerful, affirming, and in some cases life-changing books directly into the hands of my students. Because of you, my students are seen, supported, and better equipped to navigate both their inner worlds and the world around them.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have already formed deep connections with these texts. One student, J, found comfort and validation in *Don't Call Me Crazy*, an anthology that invites young people into brave and honest conversations about mental health. Another student, A, began the year proudly declaring that she \"hates reading,\" yet now regularly seeks me out for book recommendations and talks excitedly about what she's reading next. Graphic novels like *Dear Dad* provided an entry point for my student T, helping them process the complex emotions that come with having an incarcerated family member. These are just a few examples—the impact of your gifts continues to ripple outward.\r\n\r\nYour support has allowed me to foster a classroom reading culture rooted in empathy, curiosity, and choice. Students are no longer reading only stories that mirror their own lives—though that representation remains critically important, especially for students who so rarely see themselves reflected in school texts. They are now actively seeking out stories that help them better understand others' experiences, identities, and emotions. Through reading, they are building compassion alongside literacy.\r\n\r\nWe regularly host book tastings to explore new genres, \"friend\" one another on the Beanstack app to share recommendations, and—most remarkably—students often choose to read instead of playing computer games when they finish their work early. And we are only halfway through the year. I am so excited to see how this community of readers continues to grow.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students, in the power of books, and in the kind of classroom where reading builds both skills and humanity.","fullyFundedDate":1753899953650,"projectUrl":"project/real-ones-read-a-library-for-brave-kin/9442238/","projectTitle":"Real Ones Read: A Library for Brave, Kind Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McCullen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9114857_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752779429157","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9114857"},{"teacherId":9012472,"projectId":9035489,"letterContent":"My small group learners were thrilled about the snacks.
