During a recent math lesson on building and breaking apart shapes, my students used the mini dry erase boards to quickly show how they could compose and decompose shapes and explain their thinking. It was such a special moment to see even my quieter students confidently holding up their boards and sharing their ideas. We also created a class anchor chart together using the new chart paper to record strategies for how to break shapes into smaller parts, and students now refer back to it during independent work. The colorful paper and cardstock have been used to create hands-on learning tools and mini projects that help students visualize their learning in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\nMy students were so excited when the new supplies arrived. They immediately noticed the bright colors and couldn't wait to use the whiteboards and paper. They were especially excited about having their own boards to write on and erase, and many students were eager to try the sensory tools, which helped them stay calm and focused during lessons. Seeing their smiles and excitement reminded me how much these small tools can make a big difference for growing learners.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\nNext, my students will continue building on our current math and literacy work by using the whiteboards to practice problem-solving strategies and explain their thinking in complete sentences. In reading, we will begin a new lesson focused on identifying the main idea and important details in a story, and we will use our anchor chart paper to create a classroom reference chart students can use during small-group and independent reading. The classroom speakers will support our learning as we listen to read-alouds and short videos to deepen understanding. These resources will continue helping my thoughtful, energetic, and bright students stay engaged, build confidence, and take ownership of their learning every day","fullyFundedDate":1760712686726,"projectUrl":"project/engaged-minds-busy-hands/9785530/","projectTitle":"Engaged Minds, Busy Hands","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barnes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10223910_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756319508533","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10223910"},{"teacherId":7388348,"projectId":9767704,"letterContent":"When our ant farm and magnifying glasses arrived, my second graders could hardly contain their excitement! During our English Language Arts block, the whiteboard allows me to clearly model expectations for student work and record important notes from the texts and books we read together, helping students better understand and apply what they are learning. The rolling cart has become an essential part of our math instruction, making it easy to distribute manipulatives and keep lessons running smoothly. It also helps us stay organized by holding books and materials for ELA and small-group instruction.
