They begged for an \"unboxing\" and joyfully gathered round as I unpacked fresh, sparkling art supplies. \r\n\r\nThe marker air brush tool became an immediate favorite, a new way for students to develop fine motor strength, and explore cause and effect as they mixed new colors and experimented with holding it at different angles and using different levels of pressure. Daily, students request to use them! They have quickly become one of the most preferred playthings in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe vast majority of students in my class come from a low income background. Having brand new markers and other high quality materials is so meaningful to each of my students, and to me. These materials become tools in lessons that prompt my four year old students to practice writing, counting, and other academic skills while engaged in artistic exploration. I am so grateful and thankful to you for this incredible investment in my classroom. I work with a population of children who are largely from low income households, and the new toys were treated with joy, excitement and even reverence! There was such interest and excitement that day we had to do a sign up sheet to take turns playing math games. \r\n\r\nYour donation supported us in adding a beautiful array of new math materials for our classroom-- puzzles to solve! Beads to sort and count! And counters to make math exploration hands on and exciting. I know these materials are making math learning more meaningful and exciting to my students, and they are spending longer and working harder during math lessons. Your generous gift means they are better prepared for math learning, next year in kindergarten and beyond! They knew immediately from the big box that something exciting was happened, so we all gathered around and opened it together! From the moment it arrived in the classroom, the children were all eager for an opportunity to play with and explore it. It has been such an impactful addition to our classroom that the children sign up each day (an amazing chance for building early writing and literacy skills!) for their turn to use it.\r\n\r\nAs an educator, it is so beautiful and rewarding to watch the learning taking place at the light table. The children are exploring conservation of mass, the way colors mix and change, and the way light can penetrate some objects (but not others!) and more. I am so grateful for your incredible generosity, and I know this beautiful light table will benefit many many classes over the upcoming years.\r\n\r\nPersonally, I am excited for the upcoming lessons which will incorporate this amazing piece of technology. I look forward to an upcoming geometry lesson where students will build two dimensional shapes on the light table, and to adding translucent letters for students to build their names and early words. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for the amazing learning you have made possible in my classroom.
