Several have mentioned that their favorite class to visit each day is journalism because they feel at home. I purchased additional things over the summer to pair well with the items purchased from your generosity, and the entire project turned out perfectly. Former students stop in to visit occasionally as well, because they enjoy the atmosphere. In journalism, my class has been able to sit around the coffee table, in the \"comfy seats\" and discuss ideas for newspaper stories and current events we may include in our next issue.\r\n\r\nIt has been so nice for them to have a class period during their day when they are encouraged to have academic conversations with their peers in a place they enjoy. My future plans are to continue adding items to our classroom to make even more space for nontraditional seating. It really is a joy to see this project succeed this year. Not only have they learned numerous things about producing videos through this experience, but they have also produced videos that have made a positive impact on other students throughout the school.\r\n\r\nA couple of the projects we have already completed with our green screen studio include conducting interviews after completing a unit on the effects of plastic pollution in the ocean and a compilation of videos that demonstrate expected behaviors on the playground (such as throwing away trash, sharing playground equipment, and allowing everyone to participate in recess activities). The compilation video was shared by our school principal and the video was shown to all students in the elementary school. We have received positive feedback from students, teachers, our principal, and even our superintendent.\r\n\r\nThis project has given my students something to look forward to, as well as projects to be proud of. Having the opportunity to take part in video production is helping my students to learn about technical aspects, but it is also providing a chance for my artistic students to shine in creating commentary for skits, designing sets, problem solving with tasks pertaining to video compilation and recording, and even a chance to sing and dance! This has brought a new element to our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe plan to continue using our green screen production studio to demonstrate experiments and share projects with our school and we are currently in the works to create a student-led news broadcast.
