Your contributions have helped create such a warm, welcoming, and magical environment for my students and have truly helped us start Kindergarten on the right foot.\r\n\r\nThe rug has become such a special and central part of our classroom. It is where we come together for so much of our learning and community-building—whether we are learning new concepts, singing songs, having circle time, taking brain breaks, or simply playing and connecting with one another. It is often the first place my students gather when they begin their day and the last place we come together before heading home, making it such a meaningful part of our daily routine.\r\n\r\nThe learning materials, especially the handheld whiteboards, have also made such a wonderful impact on our classroom. They give every student an opportunity to practice, share their thinking, and show what they are learning in real time. It has been incredibly valuable to be able to see their ideas unfold and celebrate their learning along the way.\r\n\r\nThe paper cutter has also been such a helpful addition to our classroom. Kindergarten involves so much hands-on preparation—from creating booklets and learning materials to preparing art projects and other activities—and having the paper cutter has made these tasks much more efficient. This has given me more time and energy to focus on what matters most: being present with my students and creating meaningful learning experiences for them.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and for supporting my students and me. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our school year, and I am so grateful for the care and thoughtfulness behind each contribution. My students were incredibly excited when they first saw the new prizes and rewards. Their faces lit up with excitement, and it immediately created a new wave of motivation. Students are now even more eager to participate, stay focused, and challenge themselves so they can earn the new incentives. The resources have helped create a positive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel motivated to do their best each day.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources as part of our classroom reward and incentive system to celebrate effort, growth, and positive choices. Since introducing the prizes, I have noticed students becoming more willing to take academic risks, persevere through challenging assignments, and encourage one another along the way. The excitement surrounding the rewards has helped strengthen student engagement, making learning even more enjoyable for everyone.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, students will use this renewed motivation to support their current classroom goals and projects. We are continuing to focus on building strong learning habits, teamwork, and perseverance. These resources will continue to reinforce positive behaviors and celebrate student growth, helping students stay excited about learning and motivated to achieve their personal best. We began a three-part bookmark project that taught my students the basics of threading, knot tying, two basic hand stitches, and button sewing. This project has and continues to support my students 1) fine-motor skills, 2) social emotional development, and 3) visual arts skills\r\n\r\nFor example, one of my students entered my classroom with far below average handwriting skills. Sewing has quickly strengthen his hand-eye coordination and dexterity. Now he his learning cursive lettering with so much more ease than in the beginning of the year. His improvement has been staggering!\r\n\r\nOur first sewing bookmark project has also fostered a sense of community and resilience amongst my students. They have been eager to help each other when faces with knot tying challenging or needing assistance with back stitching. The pace of sewing has also supported lessons in perseverance and patience.\r\n\r\nBecause of your donation, my third graders will have the opportunity to learn the timeless skill of sewing— a gift that will stay with them for years to come. In a world that moves quickly and leans heavily on technology, sewing has offered and continues to offer something truly special: a chance to slow down, to create with care, and to find joy in the process. I am thrilled to see my students bring their ideas to life with fabric, thread, and imagination.","fullyFundedDate":1753912386819,"projectUrl":"project/going-old-school-with-sewing-skills/9402342/","projectTitle":"Going \"Old School\" with Sewing Skills!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gordon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8494798_orig.jpg?crop=1260,1260,x1059,y696&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749413716319","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8494798"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_4411","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":543,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":32,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":27,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.1,"schoolId":4411,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Clarendon Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Clarendon Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-francisco-unified-school-district/clarendon-elementary-school/4411"}
