As students mold and shape various materials, they reflect on how attention, patience, and intention are essential in bringing ideas to life—mirroring the care and understanding needed in human relationships. The act of sculpting helps them externalize internal thoughts and emotions, encouraging vulnerability and connection. Through creating representations of their own experiences or those of others, students learn to see the world from different perspectives and gain deeper insights into the feelings and stories of those around them.\r\n\r\nBeyond personal expression, sculpting becomes a tool for social awareness and community engagement. When students design sculptures around themes such as resilience, diversity, or social justice, they not only express empathy but also advocate for it. Reflective journals, peer critiques, and public exhibits allow them to articulate their intentions and evaluate the emotional impact of their work. Community feedback and participation in art-based service projects—such as installations in public spaces or workshops for younger students—further demonstrate their commitment to fostering empathy and understanding. In this way, sculpting becomes more than an art form; it becomes a vehicle for shaping compassionate, thoughtful learners.","fullyFundedDate":1758756219843,"projectUrl":"project/sculpting-learners/9751629/","projectTitle":"Sculpting Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Deak","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8964152_orig.jpg?crop=2464,2464,x0,y205&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1709236437424","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msdeak"},{"teacherId":9345870,"projectId":8290374,"letterContent":"Ending off the 24-25 school year, our School had only 9 missing books. Some of those books are almost always found by teachers when cleaning up their classrooms. Small incentives are true motivators for our kiddos. We had two classrooms tied with NO missing books for the entire school year. So impressive. \r\n\r\nThe library teaches students ownership, responsibility, organization and also sharing. At the end of each quarter we ran reports to check in with classrooms and set goals for our shared books. Showing off the incentives bucket captured all the students attention in awe. motivating them even more to take care of their books and return them back to Ms.Nikki in the library. With our School budgets being smaller than ideal, we really stress the importance of returning library books. But also returning them in the condition they were taken in. That way another friend can enjoy the book too. \r\n \r\nWith your help and donations, this school year was a huge success in getting out books back! Last year we had 35 missing books finishing up the year. As you can see, that number has dropped dramatically! Leaving us to be able to purchase new books, instead of replacing lost or damaged ones. You are appreciated!","fullyFundedDate":1715170470884,"projectUrl":"project/incentives-for-my-library-kiddos-no-mi/8290374/","projectTitle":"Incentives for My Library Kiddos!
