While a few items from our original request were unavailable, the resources we did receive have brought so much joy, movement, and teamwork to our students.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment the materials arrived, my students were bursting with excitement. They really enjoyed playing with the baseball equipment and the bubble machine. It was such a heartwarming reminder of how much learning and growth can happen through play.\r\n\r\nThese tools have given my students opportunities to strengthen their motor skills, build friendships, and develop essential life skills like communication and problem-solving—all outside, in the fresh air. One of my favorite moments was watching a group of students taking turns to hit the baseball and sharing. This gave them the opportunity to practice their social skills and interact with one another. \r\n\r\nNext Steps: As we enter Extended School Year (ESY), we'll continue to use these materials during our themed summer units (Beach, Camping, Zoo) to inspire movement-based learning. These activities allow my students to explore, collaborate, and express themselves physically while reinforcing academic and social-emotional concepts.\r\n\r\nI'm especially grateful that this project was funded by San Jose State University—my alma mater—and Extra Yard for Teachers. They watched in awe as I laminated their personalized visual schedules and emotion charts. One student pointed to his new laminated schedule and said, \"That's mine forever!\" The durability of these materials means they can be used daily without wear and tear—essential in a high-need, sensory-friendly classroom like ours.\r\n\r\nWe've already used the heavy-duty stapler and hole puncher to prepare organized IEP packets for upcoming meetings. The pens and staple remover may seem like small additions, but they've made editing and updating student documentation so much more efficient. And the paper shredder? It's been crucial for securely disposing of outdated documents and maintaining student privacy.\r\n\r\nThese tools allow me to spend less time buried in paperwork and more time developing personalized supports and engaging lessons. Right now, we're working on a self-regulation project where students identify emotions and coping strategies. The laminated visuals we created are helping them communicate and check in throughout the day.\r\n\r\nNext Steps: We're preparing for Extended School Year (ESY), where I'll continue to use these materials to support our beach, camping, and zoo-themed lessons.
