This position requires me to deliver an intensive therapeutic intervention program designed for students with dyslexia or who are exhibiting dyslexic characteristics. Each month I attend training where I go through each lesson with a cohort leader just as I would with students. As you can imagine, it's intense, and there is a lot for students to take in. I knew that I would need a little help motivating them to push through each day. \r\n Through Donors Choose, I was able to get treats funded as a way to motivate my students. Each day for 45 minutes, we work to become \"language experts\" with the ultimate goal of becoming fluent readers. Having something to look forward to each week pushes my students to give it their all through each lesson. They do a wonderful job of participating and are even practicing at home. My mentor has viewed a recording of one group and was so impressed with the amount of progress they've made.
