I had been working with one student for weeks to find a book at the right reading level that he felt was interesting, the now he's been reading The Circuit every day. I have already had 6 students start reading books that were donated, and the students enjoy being able to keep the books in class and are finding the books interesting. This collection is already making a positive difference; both our world language students and native speakers are able to grow, learn, and build confidence with the level of access these books provide. Thank you for your belief in the power of literacy and access to diverse reading materials.\r\n\r\nThese books will provide our Spanish language learners with joyful, confidence-building opportunities to practice reading in a way that feels both approachable and empowering. By seeing the language and structures that they are learning reflected on colorful, engaging, and accessible pages, our students will gain not only essential literacy skills and a stronger connection tot he language they are learning. \r\n\r\nJust as importantly, these books will help our native speakers--many of whom did not have the chance to be read to during early childhood--to build a strong foundation in reading. These picture books will support them as they grow their abilities in both Spanish and English, helping them thrive academically and beyond. Thank you for making such a lasting, positive impact on our school and our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1759251505066,"projectUrl":"project/cuntame-una-historia-tell-me-a-story/9658090/","projectTitle":"Cuéntame Una Historia! Not only are these books super fun, high interest, and mostly chosen by the students, these books will help our students build reading stamina, develop critical thinking skills, identify subtlety in writing, and help them process complex ideas in and out of school. \r\n\r\nIt didn't take long for your donation's impact to be seen. Within days of the graphic novels getting processed and put on our shelves, students were perusing the titles, asking questions, and checking out multiple copies at a time. Over sixty percent of the titles were checked out within the first 10 days of the books being available. \r\n\r\nAnother exciting trend was the high number of student to student recommendations, where students would come in together with student A asking if student B could check the book out right then and there! What a gift that students are so excited about reading that they can't wait to share a book with a friend. Especially when these graphic novels contain high quality writing, address complex social topics, follow various types of relationships, and provide chances to interpret text and images to create meaning. Wow. You made that happen!!\r\n\r\nYour donation supports students' literacy and critical thinking skills and shows the evolving nature of student learning and education in general. Because graphic novels offer a unique combination of visual and textual storytelling that appeals to various learning styles, these texts will help students build skills in an increasingly visual world. Your generosity has not only enriched our library's resources but has also contributed to creating a more inclusive, thought-provoking, and dynamic community of students. \r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our students and their success in their futures!","fullyFundedDate":1744267423215,"projectUrl":"project/creating-critical-thinkers-through-comic/9139547/","projectTitle":"Creating Critical Thinkers Through Comics","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Azinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7653891_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1614903297895","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7653891"},{"teacherId":7653891,"projectId":9139854,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire high school community, I want to thank you for helping us build our tabletop games collection. Most of the games you helped us purchase are small, quick, and good for two players; this supports the behaviors of our students who often come to the library in pairs and have 30 minutes or less before needing to head to their next class. The chance for so many students to play games in their downtime has myriad benefits, from encouraging face-to-face communication, shifting focus away from mobile devices, and have fun in school. Too, these games will foster social-emotional learning, build a stronger sense of community among our students, and develop essential problem-solving skills that will benefit them both in and out of the classroom.\r\n\r\nThe impact of your donation is already evident in the enthusiasm and engagement we've seen from our students. The library has become a hub of positive interaction, where students from different grades and social circles come together to enjoy these games. We've observed increased collaboration and improved communication amongst the students who use the library. Your contribution is not just about games; it's about creating opportunities for our students to grow, learn, and connect in meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nYour investment in our students' well-being and success demonstrates a deep understanding of the diverse needs of modern education. By supporting our community, you have helped us create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. The skills and experiences our students gain through these tabletop games will undoubtedly contribute to their academic success and personal growth both in high school and beyond.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your invaluable support.","fullyFundedDate":1744988937050,"projectUrl":"project/board-games-build-big-brains/9139854/","projectTitle":"Board Games Build Big Brains!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Azinger","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7653891_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1614903297895","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7653891"},{"teacherId":3897323,"projectId":8888696,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations toward a pantry for my students!
