We are utilizing noise canceling headphones for the particularly loud moments where my students feel overstimulated. Our wobble stools have been a huge hit with our students frequently electing to utilize adaptive seating rather than a standard chair. The sensory lights have helped create a relaxing and calming vibe in our reset room where our students can go for a quick break when needed. \r\n\r\nAll of the materials have been successfully implemented around the schools and with specific students who would benefit from the materials most. I know they will continue making a positive impact on my students days and they look forward to being able to use the sensory materials to promote their regulation. We successfully purchased a variety of sensory materials, including the beloved spinning disk, balance beams, and the twinkle lights, to create a safe, supportive space for students in our elementary school. The Reset Room is more than just a quiet area; it is a place where students can truly reset their brains and bodies. By offering a private and dignified way for students to regulate their emotions and sensory input, we are providing them with an essential tool they will use throughout their lives.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this room is visible daily, not just in behavior, but in learning and achievement. The sensory materials directly support students' self-awareness, allowing them to manage their feelings before they become overwhelming. For example, we've observed one student who loves to build a fort of soft materials and spend a few minutes in solitude, feeling secure and managing sensory input on their own terms. Another utilizes the safety pads and pillows to jump and run his way to regulation. This increased independence is one of the most remarkable outcomes; students are now proactively identifying when a visit to the Reset Room would be beneficial. By returning to class calmer and more focused, students are able to engage with the rigorous academics they are capable of, which ultimately improves achievement and reduces disruptive behavior for the entire school community.\r\n\r\nThe materials you provided will continue to benefit hundreds of students for years to come, long after this initial project is complete. We've even had some staff members be so inspired that they've offered to donate additional materials to help us sustain and improve the space! Thank you, once again, for making such a lasting and vital contribution to our school. We are profoundly grateful for your belief in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1754014479490,"projectUrl":"project/from-overwhelmed-to-engaged-a-reset-roo/9504833/","projectTitle":"From Overwhelmed to Engaged: A Reset Room for Regulation","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10096139_orig.jpg?crop=1262,1262,x0,y143&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753801724965","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10096139"},{"teacherId":9714582,"projectId":9101343,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting this project! The upgraded nets have turned practices into game-like experiences, which helps boost their motivation and focus.\r\n\r\nWe've been incorporating the equipment into our weekly skills-building sessions, focusing on ball handling, passing, and shooting techniques. The students were impressed with the new basketballs and they look forward to using one every Wednesday morning for when we meet for our AM Basketball club! Students typically run in the gym and grab the ball first without putting their bags or taking their coats off because they are eager to take their first shot or layup of the day. \r\n\r\nA typical day of AM practice looks like this. We practice layups on both sides and practice shooting mid-range shots. We spend a tremendous time doing dribble drills that way they are prepared to demonstrate their dribble when they make the official basketball team(s). Students dribbling with new basketballs has helped them understand the cues a lot more compared to using older basketballs. Students now have an understanding of how high a basketball should go up and they have a visual of how low they can manipulate the ball. Thanks to you they have brand new and safe equipment to work with! With the new electronic pump I can leave this out in a safe spot and add air when needed rather than leaving the kids unattended to go fill up equipment at a slower rate. I can also pack this for our basketball games which is sleek and easy to pack when it comes to traveling with lots of equipment.
