We do a lot of direct instruction, and with the addition of these new materials, we now have even more creative ways to reinforce the specific skills we're working on.\r\n\r\nThe jumbo magnetic ten frames have already been a big hit! My students love being able to manipulate the math problems, and it's been amazing to see how visually representing their thinking helps them arrive at definite answers. The math games have also been a favorite, especially the Bumper Cars Subtracting game. Second graders get so enthusiastic and competitive as they practice their subtraction facts, and it's wonderful to see them learning while having so much fun.\r\n\r\nThe first graders have really enjoyed using the Touch and Read cards to practice writing CVC words. These cards give them confidence as they sound out, read, and write words independently. It's been such a great way to build their literacy skills while keeping them engaged and proud of their progress.\r\n\r\nThe kindergarteners are just as excited! They love using the picture mats and miniature objects to work on beginning sounds. These hands-on materials make learning both meaningful and enjoyable for them.\r\n\r\nThis generous donation has truly made a lasting impact on our classroom. The students are learning through play, collaboration and the smiles on their faces say it all. My 2nd graders now have engaging and hands-on tools that are transforming the way they learn and think about math.\r\nThanks to your donation, our class received a variety of puzzles, problem-solving games, and Bridge the Gap math activities that have already begun to make a noticeable difference in our daily learning. Here's how these resources are being used:\r\nMath Puzzles and Games: Students work in small groups to tackle logic puzzles, number pattern challenges, and spatial reasoning games. These activities have become a favorite part of our math block, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration.\r\nProblem Solving Stations: We've created rotating centers that feature games requiring strategic thinking and multi-step problem solving. Students are learning to persevere through challenges and explain their reasoning, skills that go far beyond math.\r\nBridge the Gap Activities: These targeted tools are helping students reinforce foundational math skills. Whether they need fluency practice or concept review, students are gaining confidence and closing learning gaps at their own pace.\r\nThe excitement and engagement I see during these activities are incredible. Students who were once hesitant in math now look forward to solving problems with their peers. On behalf of our kindergarten and first grade students, I want to give you a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU for your generous donation of a contrabass bar to our music classroom.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment it arrived, the contrabass bar has been a hit. It didn't even make it all the way out of the box before the kids were asking, \"What's THAT?!\" Now, it's the most exciting part of music time. They love taking turns playing it, feeling the low vibrations, and hearing how its deep voice changes the sound of our whole group. We've started calling it \"the heartbeat of our music circle.\" And, it will play a key part of our spring concert. \r\n\r\nFor little learners, music is all about movement, imagination, and discovery—and your gift has opened up a whole new world of sound. The contrabass bar helps students understand musical concepts like beat, rhythm, and dynamics in a big, bold way. Plus, it's just plain fun. It's sparked curiosity, teamwork, and confidence. My favorite student comment so far has been from a little boy who is more hesitant to speak up in class. He said, \"I got the boom. Boom!\" and for him, that was a lot of words! \r\n\r\nThanks to you, our young musicians are learning to listen closely, play together, and express themselves in new ways. They're learning that music isn't just something they hear—it's something they can create. And with an instrument as powerful and unique as the contrabass bar, every student feels like a true musician.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has brought joy, learning, and a whole lot of smiles into our classroom. It might just be one instrument—but to our students, it's a big deal (in every sense of the word!). We are so grateful for your support and for believing in the magic of music education at the earliest stages.\r\n\r\nFrom all of us—especially the little ones who now know what \"fortissimo\" really feels like—thank you for making our music class even more special.","fullyFundedDate":1742909611251,"projectUrl":"project/building-big-sound-support-our-contraba/9190359/","projectTitle":"Building Big Sound: Support our Contrabass Bar and Stand","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Buchmann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3435839_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1499571857820","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsbuchmannsroom"},{"teacherId":3435839,"projectId":8808074,"letterContent":"For our winter concert this year, we used the text \"Sneezy the Snowman\". It is about a snowman that isn't comfortable in the cold and the children who build him help him by sharing what they have. It embodies the spirit of the season and the Snuggle Up and Read event we hosted in connection to our music concert this year. We read a little, sang a little, and shared a few speaking parts along the way. It was a hit with kids and adults alike. Following our concert, families returned to their child's classroom to SNUGGLE UP and READ! Each child was gifted a copy of the book to read with their families at the event and then keep for their home libraries. Several families shared how nice it was to sit down and read with their kiddo. Teachers appreciated that it was short and connected to learning! Overall, it was the sweetest event!\r\n\r\nWe could not have done this without your generous donation to help us purchase a copy of the book for each child at our school.
