We received our books at just the right time. We had been focusing on Eric Carle and had been reading some of his classics, when we received our shipment of his newer works! Some of these books were even new to myself and my assistant. \r\n We allowed the students to peruse the books first, and then we began reading each one to the group as a whole. We discussed what the book was teaching us, how the Eric Carle books were similar and how they were different. Some of the books received had animal sounds that went along with the characters in the book. This was a huge hit! We even got a stuffy Hungry Caterpillar to go along with our \"The Hungry Caterpillar\" book. \r\nThe great thing about these books is that the children never tire of them. Many of the kids can actually tell the story from memory. We unboxed all of our items and talked about each one; what is was, its origin, how to play it, as well as how to take care of it. We discussed the types of music one might hear these drums played in and watched some videos of them being played. \r\n When we received all of our drums and instruments, the children had a chance to compare and contrast how the drums looked and sounded. We talked about how the sounds were high or low, depending on the size of the drum. Our students were excited to create their own shirt with so many fantastic colors to choose from. We had never used sweatshirts for tie dying before, so we were curious to see how they turned out. Luckily, one of our teachers in our classroom new how to do this. \r\n\r\nThe kids loved choosing the perfect colors to go together. Most of them used all of the colors! Rainbows are our favorite of course! The students also enjoyed squeezing the bottles! That is always a big hit!
