Your generosity has made such a meaningful , memorable difference for my students, and we are incredibly grateful.\r\n\r\nI would especially like to thank The Tepper Foundation for purchasing a multitude of literacy, math and socio-emotional materials for our classroom! These resources and materials have already become an important part of promoting engaging math and literacy learning daily, while intertwining the socio-emotional learning throughout the learning!\r\n\r\nIt is very hard to decide which materials are the class favorite! We opened up the boxes together and the students said that it \"felt like Christmas!\"\r\n\r\nThe new literacy materials have helped to make our phonemic awareness, phonics and reading lessons much more hands-on and engaging. The students are so much more eager and enthusiastic to participate and the materials encourage curiosity, collaboration and exploration in early literacy. The diagraph pocket chart came at just the right time as we have just recently introduced diagraphs. This is a difficult concept for early learners and the pocket chart with the correlating pictures and diagraph cards made the lessons so much more engaging and memorable!\r\n\r\nThe new math materials have also boosted the engagement and enthusiasm in our math lessons. The students are so excited when we pull out the magnetic ten frame boards and the carpet ten frame mat. It brings the concepts of teen numbers to life and promotes active , hands on learning with some of these more difficult topics in kindergarten. \r\n\r\n\r\nWe will continue to use all of our new materials during our literacy and math group instruction. I am so excited to be able to witness the growth and excitement flowing through the classroom while the students are engaged in using these incredible learning tools in the classroom! We will also be incorporating the emotions/feelings pocket chart throughout the day in reflection of how we are feeling about our learning and our environment. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for investing in my student's learning. Scholastic News is a weekly magazine that each child receives. There are multiple nonfiction articles each week about things happening in our world. It is a colorful, fun magazine to receive and allows students to connect with the real things that are happening. \r\nWe use the Scholastic News magazines each week as a tool to teach students how to become better readers. It's a great way to improve their comprehension and practice answering questions to prepare students for state testing. Students have learned how to read and react to text. They are then put into groups to share their reactions and discuss the article. We even bring writing into the lessons as they practice answering short answer questions and write responses to the articles that they read. \r\nOne of their favorite articles each week is a Debate-It article. It poses a question each week and offers two differing opinions. Students have learned how to state their opinions and give support for what they believe. \r\nScholastic News provides a fun and engaging way for students to improve all literacy skills. There were smiles, gasps, and eager questions about what they could create. Many students asked when they would be allowed to use them, and once introduced, they jumped right in—sharing ideas, taking turns, and collaborating naturally.\r\n\r\nWhile these materials are currently used during early-finisher time and recess, we are excited to find even more ways to intentionally incorporate them into our classroom learning. The impact on student engagement has been nothing short of inspiring. From the very first day, these tools have sparked excitement, creativity, and meaningful connections across subject areas.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite projects has been creating a vibrant ecology wall. During reading, students visit our 3D pen station to design and build models of the plants and animals we're learning about. These creations are displayed on our classroom windows, forming a dynamic and growing ecosystem that supports both our reading and science standards. This visual, hands-on approach has helped students deepen their understanding while taking pride in their work.\r\n\r\nIn math, the pens have brought abstract concepts to life. Students have built 3D shapes to support our geometry lessons and have also classified these shapes as part of their learning. It's been a powerful way to reinforce math standards through hands-on exploration.\r\n\r\nWhat's even more amazing is how user-friendly the pens are. Students now use them during indoor recess, where collaboration and creativity flourish. I've seen teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation—all the qualities of a 21st-century classroom community—blossom during this unstructured time.\r\n\r\nThank you, DonorsChoose and every donor who made this possible.
