Some of the materials have already been put to use in our weight room, giving our girls access to equipment that was not previously available to them.\r\n\r\nWhile we have not yet been able to fully implement everything we envision for the space, these resources are an important first step. Our goal has always been to create an environment where girls feel that the weight room belongs to them, too—a place where they can build strength, improve balance and mobility, learn proper training techniques, and become more confident athletes.\r\n\r\nAs we continue implementing the equipment, these materials will support girls in PE and weightlifting classes as well as athletes participating in competitive cheer, JV and varsity basketball, volleyball, softball, tennis, golf, and swimming. Because the equipment can be used across classes, teams, and seasons, this project has the potential to benefit hundreds of girls each year, not just one team or one group of students.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful to the donors who helped us begin transforming this space. Students have used the whiteboards, plastic folders, and dry erase magnets for quick discussions, vocabulary practice, source analysis, and text analysis. The whiteboards allow students to quickly share their thinking, receive immediate feedback, and make changes to their ideas as they learn. This has been especially helpful during lessons when I want every student to participate rather than hearing from only a few students.\r\n\r\nOne of the students' favorite activities has been the The Whole Brain Game that challenges them to think creatively and develop unique ideas. They enjoy the challenge of coming up with responses that are different from their classmates, and it has encouraged them to take risks with their thinking. Students also love manipulating the magnets with their ideas on them. Being able to physically move and organize their thinking has helped make abstract concepts more concrete and has led to some great classroom conversations.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, the students were happy we had new whiteboards and the erasers with the silly faces! Those small details brought a lot of smiles to the classroom and made the materials feel like something special that belonged to them. More importantly, the students quickly discovered that these resources were tools they could use to show what they were thinking.\r\n\r\nWe look forward to using these resources the rest of the semester.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping create a classroom where they can actively participate, collaborate, think creatively, and see their ideas take shape. Beyond the literary analysis, the students connected these dramas to 21st-century leadership approaches. In their essays, students compared the \"prideful blindness\" of Oedipus and the \"rigid authority\" of Creon to the types of management they see today—even in their own part-time jobs. They successfully identified how empathy, wisdom, and ethical decision-making are not just academic concepts, but essential tools for the modern workplace. As an English teacher, I knew I could help lower that percentage rate. With your help, so many high school seniors will study the classics, Macbeth and Pride and Prejudice, in their entirety. \r\n\r\nShakespeare and Austen can be intimidating at first. After weeks of critical analysis, journals, and classroom debates, my students realized these works of literature are still relevant today. Macbeth's struggle with ambition and power still ring true in 2026. Because of you, I was able to implement a deep, collaborative study of the Holocaust, centered on Elie Wiesel's memoir 'Night'.\r\n\r\nMy teaching objective was to move beyond surface-level reading and closely examine the complexities that 'Night' raises, questions about humanity, inhumanity, and the choices people make under unimaginable duress. This study would not have been possible without your funding. \r\n\r\nThis study also enabled us to delve into a deeper literary analysis. Students collaboratively discussed, debated, and reflected on acts of kindness, cruelty, selfishness, and unselfishness. They also charted and analyzed Wiesel's use of language. \r\n\r\nTeaching the Holocaust to high schoolers is a necessary responsibility.
