I am an Academic Intervention Services teacher for Reading. I have 55 students from 5th and 6th grade. Most of my students are able to read the words, but have difficulty comprehending what they have read. A lot of times this is due, in part, because they are second language learners and do not have a vast vocabulary in English. Another reason is that they have not developed their reading muscle and are unable to attend to texts for longer periods of time.\r\n Your donation to this project has provided the students with a library of books that they want to read as well as a comfortable space in which they can read and enjoy books. Having the time and desire to read exposes children to new vocabulary, the writer's craft, as well as various genres. \r\n My students love the additions to the library. I have students asking to read. I have students borrowing books from the library to bring to class to read during their independent reading time in class. \r\n My students also love their reading space. They love to get out one of the new seats and sit around and read. This space has made our classroom a home away from home. They treat the books and furniture with care as they know this is something special for their classes.\r\n Thank you again for your generous donation and the time you took to look for projects to support on Donor's Choose. Choosing us meant the world to both myself and my kids.","fullyFundedDate":1756582616292,"projectUrl":"project/independent-reading-station/9546591/","projectTitle":"Independent Reading Station","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hernandez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10056931"},{"teacherId":6853374,"projectId":7684473,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a warm, welcoming, and resource-rich learning environment. The materials you funded — from colorful organizational tools to high-quality English Language Learner (ELL) educational resources — are making a real difference in the daily lives of my students.\r\n\r\nOur students now have access to books, visuals, and hands-on materials designed specifically for multilingual learners. These tools help them build vocabulary, develop reading comprehension skills, and feel confident using English. They're also improving their collaboration skills as they work in groups with the new resources.\r\n\r\nThe organizational items you provided have helped create a classroom that feels safe, clean, and inspiring. Students are more eager to come to class, and the positive environment is helping them focus, participate, and take pride in their work.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students feel seen, valued, and capable. Your support made a lasting impact on the lives of our students, encouraging their creativity, boosting their confidence, and fostering a love for language and self-expression.\r\n\r\nThrough your donation, students had the opportunity to explore the art of poetry in ways they never had before. They worked diligently to write their own poems, experimenting with rhyme, rhythm, and imagery. The project not only allowed them to engage with literature in a more meaningful way but also helped them discover the power of their own voices.\r\n\r\nThe most profound outcome of this experience was seeing students who once struggled with self-expression come alive through their words. Some students who were initially hesitant to share their ideas in class found strength in writing poetry, opening up in ways we hadn't seen before. For others, the project instilled a newfound sense of pride in their abilities, leading to greater participation in other areas of their learning.\r\n\r\nYour support also enabled us to showcase the students' work in a poetry culminating event, where they had the chance to share their poems with their peers and administrators. It was a beautiful moment that celebrated their growth as both writers and individuals. The excitement in their eyes as they read their words aloud was priceless, and it would not have been possible without your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your belief in the power of creativity and education. Your contribution has made a meaningful difference in these students' lives, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership.","fullyFundedDate":1748281427056,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-poetry-collections/9251918/","projectTitle":"Diverse Poetry Collections","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hoda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8918941"},{"teacherId":7184126,"projectId":5584581,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness and generous support to my project. My students could not stop reading all the poems and looking at the colorful illustrations that inspired them to create their own poems. \r\nSome of the skills the students learned using these new texts was understanding the different types of poems there are, how to read poems and how to write their own poems using the guided lessons that I taught them. \r\nReading in my classroom looks like a dynamic and engaging activities encompassing various approaches like guided reading, independent reading, and shared reading, all while focusing on developing both word recognition and language comprehension. It involves modeling fluent reading, providing opportunities for close reading, and fostering a love of reading through diverse texts and interactive discussions. My students loved the new poetry books because they were in their own native language of Spanish. They loved be able to read them, understand them and using them to create their own poems that reflexed their own lives and experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1747067773415,"projectUrl":"project/poetry-cornerrincn-de-poesa/9131947/","projectTitle":"Poetry Corner/Rincón de Poesía","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Diaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7616865"},{"teacherId":6077240,"projectId":9240063,"letterContent":"The snack carts have become an integral part of how we approach our learning, especially during the afternoon.
