Many of my preschool students did not have access to basic learning materials at home, so I wanted to make sure they could continue learning and participating in meaningful activities despite the difficult circumstances. I prepared activity kits and personally delivered them to the children's homes, leaving the materials at their doors so they could safely use them with their families.\r\n\r\nSeeing the children receive their materials was incredibly rewarding. They were excited to discover the activities and have something they could use to learn, create, and explore at home. For many of them, these materials provided a sense of connection to our classroom during a time when they could not physically be together with their teachers and classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of this experience was knowing that the materials allowed my students to participate in hands-on learning even while we were apart. We used the activities to practice early literacy, counting, colors, shapes, fine-motor skills, and creativity. Families could share pictures and updates with us, which helped us feel connected and allowed me to see the children learning from home.\r\n\r\nThis experience reminded me how important access to learning materials is, especially for young children. It also showed me that a classroom can extend beyond its four walls. My next step is to continue providing hands-on opportunities that encourage children to explore, create, and learn, while making sure that every child has the resources they need to participate and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1601166013463,"projectUrl":"project/creative-minds/4934546/","projectTitle":"Creative Minds","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Adriana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7238419"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_115764","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":20,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"US Census Data for the surrounding geographic area","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"Census ZCTA","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":62.5,"schoolId":115764,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Centro de la Familia de Utah Providence on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Centro de la Familia de Utah Providence","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/utah/office-of-head-start/centro-de-la-familia-de-utah-providence/115764"}
