Students are learning that art can communicate ideas, emotions, experiences, and personal interests. They are using the new drawing materials to experiment with line, shape, color, texture, and composition while developing their own artistic ideas. One special classroom moment was seeing students become excited as they selected materials and began turning their ideas into original artwork. The resources have given students more opportunities to make creative choices and express themselves through art.\r\nMy students were very excited when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to explore the different supplies and begin creating. Many students were especially excited to have a greater variety of materials to choose from. Their enthusiasm made it clear that having access to quality art supplies can make a difference in their motivation and willingness to participate. Students were eager to experiment, share ideas, and see what they could create.\r\n\r\nThe next step is for students to continue developing their artwork by adding color, details, and meaningful visual elements. Students will explain the purpose or message behind their artwork and make thoughtful choices about how color, symbols, lines, and shapes communicate their ideas. They will also reflect on their finished artwork and discuss how their artistic choices helped express their intended message. Our goal is for students to understand that art is not just about making something that looks good—it is also a powerful way to communicate and express who they are.\r\n\r\nWe are so thankful for your generous donation and kindness. Due to the growth of the program we had been running low on supplies and our funding to buy new supplies was not accessible at the moment. The area I am teaching in has many students who are unable to afford or purchase their own supplies. Write It. Own It. Bringing ELA to Life\" project! Your generosity has helped make reading more engaging and meaningful for my students. With our new texts, students are practicing important ELA skills such as identifying themes, analyzing characters and their choices, making connections between a text and real life, discussing different perspectives, and supporting their ideas with evidence from what they read.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is more than sitting quietly with a book. Students read independently, participate in class discussions, work in groups, create visual responses, and complete activities that allow them to connect literature to their own experiences. While reading Animal Farm, for example, students have been able to discuss bigger ideas such as leadership, power, fairness, rules, and responsibility. They have also worked together on activities like exploring rites of passage, which gave them an opportunity to think about important milestones in their own lives and compare their ideas with their classmates.\r\n\r\nOne of the best parts of this project has been seeing students become more willing to participate. Some students who may not always be the first to speak during a traditional lesson become much more involved when they are able to work with classmates, create something, or share their own perspective. Having books that students can actually hold, annotate, discuss, and use during interactive lessons has helped bring ELA off the page.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and giving us the resources to make reading something they can read, write about, discuss, connect to, and truly own.
