Recently, the girls participated in a reflective writing activity where they created two inspirational cards—one written to themselves and one written to encourage someone else. This project became a powerful classroom moment. Students practiced using their voices in a positive way by writing messages that counter negative self-talk and reinforce confidence, strength, and hope. Many of the girls shared that writing encouragement to themselves felt surprisingly powerful, and several mentioned that they plan to keep their cards somewhere safe so they can read them again when they need motivation.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials and heard the purpose of the activity, they were immediately engaged and curious. They leaned into the opportunity to think about the words they carry and the words they choose to give to others. The room quickly shifted into a space of reflection and encouragement as students thoughtfully crafted their messages. Writing cards for others also helped strengthen the sense of community among the girls, reminding them that their words have the power to uplift the people around them.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue building on this experience by practicing how to use their voices with confidence in discussions, reflections, and future writing activities. We will continue exploring ways to replace negative thoughts with positive ones, set healthy boundaries, and communicate with clarity and respect. Thank you for helping create opportunities that allow students to grow not only academically, but personally as well.","fullyFundedDate":1755715629377,"projectUrl":"project/write-to-rise-give-her-the-tools-to-lea/9365098/","projectTitle":"Write to Rise: Give Her the Tools to Lead","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Joslyn Collins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1750597_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747540195853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1750597"},{"teacherId":7733301,"projectId":9722322,"letterContent":"Thanks to your support, my AVID students now have daily access to a classroom printer. This has transformed the way they organize and prepare their binders, which are the heart of the AVID program. Before this project, students often struggled to find time to go to the library to print materials, and many simply went without. Now, they can immediately print their assignments, notes, and resources, keeping their binders complete and ready for class.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students the most is the independence this gives them. They no longer have to wait in line at the library or feel stressed about not having access to printed copies. Several students have shared that this printer makes them feel more prepared and \"caught up\" with their peers, which has boosted their confidence in class.\r\n\r\nFor many of my low-income students, having this resource right in the classroom removes a barrier that once stood in the way of staying organized. Your generosity has given them a tool that directly supports their academic growth and helps them continue on their path toward college success. We are deeply grateful for the lasting impact you've made on our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758796029543,"projectUrl":"project/printing-success-for-avid-students/9722322/","projectTitle":"Printing Success for AVID Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Zorn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7733301_orig.png?crop=390,390,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1612299888197","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/zornscience"},{"teacherId":7733301,"projectId":5658826,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating electronic components to my Physics classroom. Because of your generosity, my students have had more opportunities to learn through hands-on projects.\r\n\r\nOne of the first activities we did was building simple circuits. When I brought out the materials, the students were immediately excited. They wanted to start experimenting right away. Several students who usually hang back during lessons were some of the first to connect wires, light bulbs, and batteries to see their circuits come to life.\r\n\r\nThese resources are now part of our regular lab work. Students are using them to explore current, resistance, and voltage in a way that goes beyond diagrams on a board. They are not only learning the concepts but also gaining confidence in their ability to troubleshoot and solve problems when something does not work on the first try.\r\n\r\nNext, we will be using the components to design and test student-created devices. This will let them apply what they have learned about energy transfer and systems in a project where their creativity and problem-solving skills take center stage.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving my students this opportunity.
