Before this project, we did not have any technology available in the counseling office, and we have already seen how much students enjoy and benefit from having access to it.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest game changers has been the availability of meditation, breathing, and emotional regulation apps. While I cannot share pictures or specific student stories due to confidentiality, I can share that these tools have helped some students calm their bodies and minds when they are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, frustrated, or upset. The interactive nature of the apps gives students something concrete to focus on while practicing healthy coping strategies.\r\n\r\nOur students are especially excited to explore the different apps. When a student discovers an app or strategy that works well for them, we can talk about how they might continue using that strategy outside of school. With parent or guardian permission, students can even download helpful apps onto their personal devices so they can continue practicing these skills at home.\r\n\r\nThis iPad is much more than a piece of technology. It has become a tool that helps students pause, breathe, regulate their emotions, and learn skills they can carry with them beyond the counseling office. Since this project was funded at the end of last year, we're just now getting the opportunity to start using them. The huge beanbag has been a great incentive for students to work hard. They know they have to earn the chance to sit in it and that they have to be working hard to continue to use it. \r\nThe iPad has been great for doing lessons that use QR codes. It makes learning more fun when they can take a break from regular worksheets. We also used it to take pictures for our beginning of the year Getting to Know You project. It's helpful since students can't use their phones at school for these activities. I will be adding some apps to it soon to help with mental health, educational games (during advisory time), and I'm sure I'll find other uses. The keyboard and mouse help students use the iPad easier when they have to type in longer sentences for assignments.\r\nThe water art is a great calming tool to use when students get overstimulated. Most of my students like to draw or color. This gives them a quiet and non-messy tool to use when they just need to calm down. It's a great addition to my Calm Down Corner.\r\nThanks again for supporting my classroom and students. Each and every item has a purpose and is being used to help create a classroom where my students can feel comfortable, supported, and ready to learn.\r\nThe soft lighting has been one of the most meaningful additions to our classroom. It has helped create a calmer, more relaxing environment for everyone and has been especially beneficial for two of my students who experience seizures. Having a softer atmosphere helps make our classroom a more comfortable place for learning and allows us to better meet the individual needs of our students.\r\nThe additional art supplies have also been wonderful. They give us easy access to materials that allow students to express their creativity while incorporating art into our learning. These supplies provide opportunities for students to engage, explore, and learn in ways that are meaningful to them.\r\nThe standing desk is definitely my personal favorite! It allows me to move around the classroom as needed while providing instruction and supporting students. Being able to stay mobile and accessible throughout the room has made a big difference in my daily teaching.\r\nThe drawer cart has been incredibly helpful with organization, especially when it comes to keeping student assignments and materials organized and easily accessible. Having these resources available has helped our classroom run more smoothly.\r\nOnce again, thank you for your generosity and for believing in our classroom.
