Students are coming to the library to check out the graphic novels. They are very popular. The graphic novels are bringing in students who normally do not come in to look for books. They also support students who may be low in reading skills or come from other countries where English is their second language. \r\n\r\nGetting students into reading for fun bridges into reading for information. Students also love to explore the artistic inspiration of characters and draw their own. They like to share with me, the plot of the story, the characters and who they are and events in the story. I pre-read the books to make sure they are fine for the school library. I confess, I'm getting addicted to graphic novels too. These headphones are excellent resources to help students complete assignments with audio/visual components, and they also work to support student focus. Many teachers at our school site assign homework on the computer through Google Classroom. We also have students who complete online work for their dual enrollment college courses. Much of the work for these classes involves video components that the students have to watch, analyze, and discuss. These last few weeks when students come to the library to work, they've been surprised with our new headphones! They are now able to complete their video assignments, which was a challenge before due to the limited space in the library and how many students come in on breaks. \r\n\r\nIn addition to allowing students to complete all elements of their homework, the headphones are also a great focus tool. Many students listen to music while they work to help keep themselves on task. The headphones can only be used in the library, but we do allow students to plug them into the Chromebooks or desktops to listen to music while they work. We've noticed an increase in the productivity of these students, as well as the fact that they are a lot quieter as they work with the increased focus. The music seems to put them in their own little \"zone\" where they commit to the task at hand without distraction. We are very appreciative of this opportunity to provide a new resource that helps our students excel in their academics!","fullyFundedDate":1760693706654,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-high-school/9696768/","projectTitle":"Headphones for High School!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Torabi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9470824_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1708101914936","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9470824"},{"teacherId":640445,"projectId":9249182,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous gift.
