It provides students with the opportunity to listen to stories, songs, and educational content independently, which helps strengthen their listening comprehension and vocabulary. As students listen, they practice important early literacy skills such as identifying characters, recalling events from the story, and making connections to what they hear. It also allows students to hear fluent reading, which helps model expression and proper pacing while they are developing their own reading skills.\r\n\r\nWhat is most exciting to the students is how interactive and easy the Toniebox is to use. Instead of pushing complicated buttons, students simply place a Tonie character on top of the box to start the story or song. This hands-on experience makes listening time feel more like play, which keeps students highly engaged. They love choosing different characters and are always excited to discover what story or songs each one will play. The design makes it accessible for young learners and allows them to take ownership of their learning.\r\n\r\nSeveral students in our classroom have especially warmed up to the Toniebox, particularly those who benefit from additional support with literacy and focus. Some students who struggle with sitting through traditional read-alouds are able to stay engaged longer when listening through the Toniebox because it feels more interactive and personal. Other students enjoy returning to the same stories multiple times, which helps reinforce comprehension and build confidence. It has quickly become a favorite part of our listening center and has helped create excitement around stories and learning.","fullyFundedDate":1769191980754,"projectUrl":"project/tales-tunes-and-imagination-a-toniebo/9845577/","projectTitle":"Tales, Tunes, and Imagination: A Toniebox for Our Classroom!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gowitzka","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10321968"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84591","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":558,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":80,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":84591,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Willard Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Willard Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/ohio/willard-city-school-district/central-elementary-school/84591"}
