When the new resources arrived, my students were excited to explore the Play-Doh, fidgets, sensory tools, books, games, and calm-down materials. They were especially excited to see resources they could use during social-emotional learning activities and during times when they needed a little extra support. We have been using these materials to practice identifying emotions, calming our bodies, communicating with others, and working through challenges in positive ways. Seeing students choose a sensory tool, use a calm-down strategy, or open a book to start a conversation about kindness has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is helping create a supportive environment where students can learn that their emotions are important and that they have healthy ways to manage them. Our next steps are to continue incorporating these resources into social-emotional lessons focused on empathy, communication, problem-solving, and growth mindset. Through games, activities, books, and hands-on tools, students will continue practicing how to work together, handle frustration, learn from mistakes, and encourage one another.
