The program also helps me identify learning gaps and monitor student progress so I can provide more targeted instruction.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the interactive, hands-on nature of IXL. They enjoy seeing their progress, working toward skill mastery, playing the fact fluency games, and celebrating their accomplishments. The instant feedback encourages them to keep trying rather than giving up when a problem is challenging. In both math and reading, IXL has helped students become more independent learners while making practice feel engaging and rewarding. Having enough pencils saves me time from searching our workroom for more. Using my iPad stand to model our activity saves me time in explaining exactly how the students' papers should look. Because of your generosity, our classroom has immediate and all year access to these wireless keyboards, making our writing assignments easy to complete without forcing other classrooms to wait for the very limited school set to be available.\r\n Writing has become more enjoyable and motivating for my students due to these keyboards. They love having their \"own\" which was successfully paired to each device. They are organized by each student's number, and I actually for the first time have students asking me when we are going to do another writing assignment!\r\n It is also beneficial to be able to use them right in our classroom, from anywhere in the room. Some students enjoy taking them to smaller tables or to our classroom library, where they can use them on a lap desk. I've also had many students ask to use them during indoor recess so they can write stories.\r\n Again, you could have chosen other projects, yet you chose mine. The Composition Notebooks give students a consistent place to record their thinking and reflect on what they are learning. We are also using the clear pockets to keep math resources organized and easily accessible during math lessons.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited to have their own supplies and a designated place for all them. The pencils, erasers, tape, glue sticks, and especially the black white board markers and socks are essential for our daily lessons! The materials have helped students become more independent and responsible for keeping their learning materials organized. \r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue incorporating the supplies, Composition Notebook, Take Home folder and math resources into our daily learning. They will get to use the new tempera cakes to practice our painting expectations by painting the inside of their sketchbook covers. \r\n\r\nStudents are so excited to use these new art supplies and have been learning and practicing how to take care of their new supplies. Sketchbooks will be used for students to practice art skills and share their ideas prior to starting projects. Why?!\" -- and I get to share with them that they are a gift of a friend of the school who is eager to support their growth and learning since his sister worked here.\r\n\r\nThe fifth graders have engaged more deeply with vocabulary skills development, coming up with synonyms, identifying the role words play in the sentence (parts of speech), and figuring out the meaning of unfamiliar words using context clues more effectively when the challenging text is one they've already encountered in class. One, in particular, no longer asks me if the materials we are working with are on her grade level or if they are baby work, because she recognizes them from class! \r\n\r\nThe third graders take a real sense of ownership in the discussion and practice of various verb tenses when we're taking the words right out of \"Moonshot.\" The second graders get a kick out of practicing speech sounds using words from their books or forming complex sentences to explain the reasons things happened in the text. The materials carefully chosen for this project were designed with that in mind. My students often come to school with a lot on their minds, many coming from situations involving poverty, frequent moves, chaotic home environments, etc. The ability to find a space that is comfortable that works for each individual has had more of a positive impact on my classroom atmosphere than I could have imagined.
