I had the boxes of K'NEX on the table in front of the room and students immediately began talking about how they once used them in a previous class or how they had always wanted to use them. I could sense their excitement and eagerness to get their hands on the kits.\r\n During our first week of STEM lessons, I like to work on cooperation, compromise and communication skills. After reading the book, Too Tall Houses by Gianna Marino, students were challenged to work together in small groups. Using the K'NEX kits, students were instructed to build a tower as tall as they could with a 5 inch by 8 inch foundation. It was a competition among the groups. It was so fun to see them begin figuring out how the variety of pieces could fit together forming corners and walls as their elaborate structures grew. \r\n Some of our future projects will include time to read and follow the directions provided in the kits to build cars, planes, cameras and other various items with the K'NEX pieces. We will also use them in class for enrichment lessons to reinforce skills taught in their Math and Science classes. \r\n Your donation will bring lessons to life for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1786724432969,"projectUrl":"project/making-a-connection-in-stem-class/10469095/","projectTitle":"Making a Connection in STEM Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. F.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/352901"},{"teacherId":10524563,"projectId":10322141,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire sixth grade class, I'd like to express my sincere and deep appreciation for supporting our Donor's Choose project.
