For the last few years, my students and I have been making do with thrifted copies that I have picked up at sales and donated by retired teachers. While that has been working it has led to several difficulties such as the copies are in poor condition and fall apart easily. Others are not the same edition of books and when we read as a group, students who would get lost would have a harder time finding their spot as we did not have the same page numbers. \r\n\r\nSomething wonderful about these new books is that they are the same edition, and students can follow along with more ease. Students no longer have to worry about their books falling apart as they read them. Another added benefit is that these books have the original illustrations so that students can see what Tolkien was describing. I have been posting the pictures on the board for the last couple of years but it is nice for students to be able to flip between them and see what we are getting to. It adds to their suspense. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for this gift. My students appreciate them greatly and I look forward to using them year after year.","fullyFundedDate":1715046271617,"projectUrl":"project/6th-grade-reading-set/8316870/","projectTitle":"6th Grade Reading Set","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Larabee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9513436"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53892","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":200,"numTeachers":15,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":53892,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Central City High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Central City High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/central-city-community-school-district/central-city-high-school/53892"}
