Sometimes, this stems from a lack of access to books at home. Other times, they simply have never found a book that makes them fall in love with reading. As a sixth-grade ELA teacher, I am working diligently to change that narrative and help my students discover the joy of reading independently, some for the very first time.\r\n\r\nI firmly believe that when students have access to books that genuinely interest them, reading begins to feel less like an assignment and more like an adventure. By providing a classroom library filled with books they actually WANT to read, we are removing some of the pressure associated with reading and allowing students to simply enjoy it.\r\n\r\nEvery day, my students spend at least 15 minutes reading independently from a book of their choosing. At the end of each nine weeks, they create a project based on their book and share it with their classmates. What has been most exciting is watching their attitudes toward reading begin to change. My students have actually started ASKING for more reading time! For students who once dreaded picking up a book, that is an incredible accomplishment.\r\n\r\nThe books you helped provide have played a significant role in this transformation. So many of my students are discovering stories, characters, and genres they love. They are excited to recommend books to their friends, explore new titles, and continue reading.\r\n\r\nAs both a mother and a teacher, I wish I had the resources to provide my students with everything they deserve. Unfortunately, that is not always possible. Your generosity has helped bridge that gap by giving my students access to a classroom library filled with books they are genuinely excited to read.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students, supporting my classroom, and believing in the power of literacy. You have done so much more than provide books. You have helped create a classroom of readers, and hopefully, a lifelong love of reading that will follow these children far beyond sixth grade.","fullyFundedDate":1788456162526,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library/10552772/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nutt","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10538029"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129957","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":234,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":129957,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Centerpoint Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Centerpoint Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arkansas/centerpoint-school-district/centerpoint-middle-school/129957"}
