With an electric pencil sharpener, 3-hole punch, and electric stapler readily available, students can independently prepare and organize their materials without having to wait for adult assistance. This allows them to spend more time engaged in learning and less time managing small but necessary classroom tasks.\r\n\r\nHaving access to these supplies has also helped students develop important organizational and responsibility skills. Students are learning to take ownership of their work by keeping papers organized, preparing assignments for their binders, and making sure completed work is neat and ready to be turned in. These simple routines help students build confidence and become more independent learners.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these tools contribute to a classroom environment where students feel prepared and capable. When students have the materials they need and know how to use them, they are better able to focus on academic tasks, complete assignments, and take pride in their work. These organizational habits will continue to support their success as they move through fifth grade and into future years of school.","fullyFundedDate":1787145901903,"projectUrl":"project/growing-our-wit-and-wisdom/10503030/","projectTitle":"Growing Our Wit and Wisdom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. T.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2356681"},{"teacherId":2356681,"projectId":10417350,"letterContent":"These materials have had a meaningful impact on my students' literacy learning and engagement. With headphones available, students can independently access audiobooks and educational podcasts during reading activities and literacy centers. Listening to fluent, expressive reading while following along with text supports comprehension, vocabulary development, and reading fluency. It also gives students greater independence and allows them to engage with a wider variety of books and topics at their own pace.\r\n\r\nThe writing notebooks have become an important part of each student's literacy journey. Students use their notebooks to brainstorm, draft, revise, and reflect on their writing throughout the year. Having one dedicated place to keep their work allows students to look back at earlier pieces and recognize their growth. This helps build confidence and encourages students to take risks as writers, knowing that their notebook is a record of their ideas, effort, and progress.\r\n\r\nThe welcome keychains have also helped strengthen our classroom community. This small gesture sends a powerful message to students that they belong, that they are valued, and that they are an important part of our classroom family. When students feel connected and supported, they are more willing to participate, share their ideas, collaborate with classmates, and take on new academic challenges.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources have helped create a classroom where students have the tools, confidence, and sense of belonging they need to become stronger readers and writers. They are not only supporting the implementation of our new literacy units, but also helping students develop independence, perseverance, creativity, and a genuine love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1785547267748,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-readers-inspiring-writers/10417350/","projectTitle":"Empowering Readers, Inspiring Writers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. T.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2356681"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43890","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":231,"numTeachers":22,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"4 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":97.5,"schoolId":43890,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Center Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Center Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/east-hampton-public-schools/center-elementary-school/43890"}
