The graphic novels were a huge hit for this second semester - students loved being able to choose a novel that was high school level, but in a different format. The puzzles and games were HUGE. I love offering a game/puzzle table that makes students use their brains in a new way. It also gives students something to do in their down time that isn't scrolling on their computers or simply gossiping. \r\n\r\nAll in all, this box of books, puzzles, and games made the end of this year something students looked forward to in terms of learning in the English classroom. New books!\" project! Thanks to your generosity and dedication to reading, our students now have almost three bookshelves worth of new titles to enjoy. The impact of this cannot be understated as we have seen a substantial increase in reading over the last five months, and your gift has played a significant role in that. These books have been the focus of a weekly, \"First Read Friday\" activity, during which our students listen to the first chapter of one of the new books. They then spend some time reflecting on a book they would otherwise not have picked up on their own—sometimes even taking the book with them at the end of the day! \r\n\r\nThese books have been in constant rotation with our students, those currently in my classroom and those not. Students have become excited about reading again! The other day one of my students looked up from the book she was reading, one from your donation, and stated, \"Mrs. Saunders, I can't believe I like reading.\" The utter shock on her face made this teacher's heart warm and I haven't stopped smiling since.
