These tools have already made a tremendous impact in our classroom. \r\n\r\nStudents were incredibly excited when the materials arrived because they knew it meant they would be able to work on real-world projects using the same types of tools professionals use. Rather than just reading about measurement, design and construction, they were able to apply those skills in meaningful ways. \r\n\r\nThroughout the semester, students used the tape measures to measure classrooms and other spaces, converting those measurements into scale drawings and models. They also practiced safely using hand tools and drills while learning basic construction skills. The highlight of the year was building an actual greenhouse. Students worked together to frame walls, measure materials, solve construction challenges, and learn firsthand the importance of precision communications, and perseverance. They quickly discovered that construction requires teamwork and patience- and that not every nail goes in straight the first time! \r\nThese tools will continue to be used for years to come as future students learn engineering, design measurement, and construction skills through hands-on projects. Next year we plan on expanding our building and design opportunities so students can continue exploring real-world careers while developing practical STEM skills. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping provide experiences that bring learning to life for our students. Your generosity has given them opportunities they will remember long after they leave the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757512693395,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-tomorrows-builders-hands-on/9449131/","projectTitle":"Tools for Tomorrow’s Builders: Hands-On STEM Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Morgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10072348"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36644","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":541,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":6,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":53.1,"schoolId":36644,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Centennial Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Centennial Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/west-valley-school-district-363/centennial-middle-school/36644"}
