I serve nearly 800 students in a Title 1 school, and many of them have expressed how much they dislike reading. It turns out, they just didn't have the right motivations and suggestions for reading what they enjoy!\r\nWhen I stepped into this new position, I wanted to be sure my students felt motivated to read for fun, and I created a Reading Program for my library. I quickly realized how much money it would cost to keep the \"store\" stocked with prizes. I tiered prizes to cost different amounts of points, and each book they read earns them a point in the program. When they visit the library, I open the \"store\" for them to shop the prizes with their points! It has been such a big hit, and so many students have been so much more excited about reading! Having different fidget toys, smaller toys, and even stickers has been such a blessing to our campus and helping to offset the cost to keep our little \"store\" running.\r\nWe have also utilized the books in a really fun way! Our campus was able to receive a grant a few years ago to purchase a book vending machine, which our students can earn a coin for, and it was in desperate need of being restocked with books for our kids! We've had several able to earn coins and receive their free books with our vending machine and your generous donations that helped us get a few more books!\r\nI have also used the books in our book reading program and given a book to the student with the highest reading score each month!\r\nAgain, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much! My students and I are beyond grateful!!!!","fullyFundedDate":1730733520016,"projectUrl":"project/young-eagles-reading-corner/8516157/","projectTitle":"Young Eagles Reading Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Berber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9605548"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14477","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":756,"numTeachers":51,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":86.4,"schoolId":14477,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cedar Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cedar Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/bastrop-independent-school-district/cedar-creek-elementary-school/14477"}
