The intentional use of softer lighting helps reduce the sensory stimulation of a traditional classroom and contributes to a peaceful atmosphere where students can better focus and regulate their emotions.\r\n\r\nFlexible seating gives students meaningful choice in their day-to-day school experience. Rather than being confined to one traditional desk or chair, students can choose a workspace that best supports their learning needs. This choice encourages independence, responsibility, and self-awareness as students begin to recognize what environments help them feel comfortable and successful.\r\n\r\nTogether, flexible seating and low lighting have helped transform my classroom into a calm space where students feel a greater sense of ownership and belonging. Students are learning that having choices comes with responsibility, and they are developing the ability to make decisions about how and where they learn best.
