They have built bridges, towers, and even a \"forest village,\" working together to compare sizes, count pieces, and solve problems as a team. Others have been strengthening their fine-motor skills with tweezers and small balls, turning simple activities into calm, focused challenges. The excitement on their faces when they first saw these materials was unforgettable. Many of our students come from low-income families, and they have never had access to these kinds of learning tools at home. Seeing them handle real wood, use new tools, and explore materials they've never touched before was truly powerful.\r\n\r\nThese resources have opened the door to richer STEM exploration, stronger fine-motor development, and more opportunities for collaborative play. I want to give these young learners the very best start, because the skills they build now—problem-solving, creativity, persistence, and confidence—will support them for life. Our classroom is still in need of a wider variety of fine-motor toys, and the remaining items on DonorsChoose will help us continue providing what they deserve. Thank you so much for supporting our students and helping create learning experiences that many of them would never have otherwise. Your generosity is shaping their early learning in meaningful, lasting ways.","fullyFundedDate":1756218974099,"projectUrl":"project/dream-design-build/9629040/","projectTitle":"Dream, Design, Build!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Khalil","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8807846_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756172917121","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8807846"},{"teacherId":1986717,"projectId":9514772,"letterContent":"On behalf of our Kindergarten class, I want to extend a heartfelt thank-you for your generous donations of playdough, headphones, and PE equipment. We first began our music lessons by learning how to play rhythm using the Rhythm Sticks. We used an online platform to learn how to read and play rhythm notes. From there the students learned how to play various songs like \"Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy\". They even had a chance to perform the song to several adults at the school. The students were so proud of themselves!\r\nMost of my students are also participating in an after-school music class on Wednesdays where they are learning how to play the song flute. During this time, the students are learning how to read musical notes and play them by using numerical finger positions. This has been a very successful technique for my young learners. So far the students are able to play \"Hot Cross Buns\", and we are now working on our second song titled, \"Gently Sleep\". The students have had the opportunity to play around with the xylophones, but we will officially add songs to our collection within the next few weeks. Our ultimate goal is for the students to play a musical concert at the school's monthly Awards assembly in April 2025. This will give the students the opportunity to showcase all they have learned to the entire school and their families. This has been a wonderful experience for the students and we are very grateful for your generous gift!","fullyFundedDate":1726685184901,"projectUrl":"project/lets-make-music-together/8767347/","projectTitle":"Let's Make Music Together!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Byrd-Linarez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1986717_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1578082262449","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1986717"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3915","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":171,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":45,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.1,"schoolId":3915,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Carl B Munck Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Carl B Munck Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/oakland-unified-school-district/carl-b-munck-elementary-school/3915"}
