As an avid reader myself, I am constantly modeling a love of books to my students. My favorite thing to do at the end of the day is curl up on my reading chair with a blanket and a good book. I wanted to recreate this for the students in my classroom and you have helped me to achieve this goal.\r\n\r\nThe pillows, bean bag, and comfy reading chair have been a HUGE hit! The smiles on the faces of the students when they entered our room this year were electric. The students have been choosing their favorite pillows, a book at their level, and a comfy spot in our room to read. The care they take in putting the pillows back into our colorful bin shows me how much they love an appreciate the supplies.\r\n\r\nReading is a gift that will stay with these students for the rest of their lives. The supplies I was able to order, including different kinds of markers and sharpies will allow us to be creative and bold in our learning. As a language development teachers, the use of pictures is so important in teaching English to students with a different home or first language. Drawing and coloring our thoughts helps us to convey our ideas, our emotions, and our learning. \r\n\r\nThe supplies were able to be neatly organized so that several groups of students can use them each day. I put them into colorful caddies which students take responsibility for each day. Students are making sure caps are put back, supplies are in the right spot, and that each item is treated kindly so the materials last. My students are excited to work in groups and share the supplies daily when we do our colorful activities.\r\n\r\nI have been a teacher for over twenty years. I love providing fun and colorful items for my students, but I can only afford to buy so much. With your generosity, I did not have to spend money on art supplies for this school year. I am a teacher who teaches a very high population of English language learners. Therefore, I am always looking for fun and engaging ways to help the students practice this second language. These games have been the perfect way for us to sharpen English skills but have fun at the same time.\r\n\r\nI work in an amazing district that provides us with so many resources, but the addition of these games on top of what we already have has been such a blessing. The way the students have been able to practice asking questions, following directions, teaching each other the rules, and learning through competition has been incredible to watch. My students look forward to fun Friday every week when we get to choose games to play with partners or teams and practice our English skills in a fun way to wrap up a week of hard work.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting me, my students, and my school. I am a new teacher at Capri Elementary this year and the feeling of being welcomed and supported by donors in my community and friends in my personal circle has been amazing. The funds you generously donated helped me purchase a \"kidney\" table for my classroom.\r\n\r\nI am fortunate enough to work in a very large classroom. Once upon a time, it was a kindergarten classroom. Thus, it is made for lots of little bodies. I knew, when I entered, that I needed a space to work closely with my small groups of students rather than have them sit at separate tables. While kidney tables are great for small group work, they don't come cheap. That's where you all came in!\r\n\r\nThe table has been a place of cooperation, hard work, fun, laughter, and learning so far this year. I gather around this table with 27 groups of students ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade each week. We learn new terms, practice vocabulary, create projects, and have a great time working closely with one another. While it may be just a table to some, it is a place of community and collaboration for us.
