The very first day, I had several students rush over to claim a spot, and the excitement on their faces said it all. Many of them commented on how cozy and inviting the library felt, and even students who don't usually linger after checking out a book chose to stay, read, and relax. One of my favorite moments was during a group reading project—students naturally gathered in the new chairs to share their books and ideas, making the discussion feel less like an assignment and more like a fun conversation among friends.\r\n\r\nSince then, the seating has become a favorite part of our library. We use it for independent reading, small group work, and even as a calming area for students who need a quiet space during the day. I've noticed more engagement during reading time and even seen reluctant readers choosing to pick up a book because the environment feels welcoming. The comfort of the new seating has truly transformed how students view our library—it's not just a place to check out books, but a place they want to be.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our students are diving into a book club project where they'll read and discuss novels in small groups. The new seating will give them a space to gather comfortably, fostering collaboration and deeper conversations. Having these resources has created an atmosphere where students not only learn but also connect with one another, and I can't wait to see how their reading discussions grow in this new, inviting space.","fullyFundedDate":1756940214951,"projectUrl":"project/the-cozy-cobra-project-flexible-seating/9646675/","projectTitle":"The Cozy Cobra Project: Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dunn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9128672"},{"teacherId":9797792,"projectId":8865893,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generous donation to our mini-classroom library. We have used these books multiple ways! Students have had unlimted classroom access to the books when they have completed classwork, and many of them are excited to complete their schoolwork so they can continue reading. A few students keep the books on their desks daily because they are excited to pick up where they left off in their chosen book. I love looking out and seeing children quietly reading during down time, rather than playing a game on their electronic devices.\r\n\r\nI have also begun reading a chapter of a book aloud on Friday's to my younger students. Not only do the children still enjoy being read to, but the stories are captivating, and for many students, this Friday activity motivates them to want to read beyond each chapter. Since the books you donated are about young musicians, a few sweet students have told me that they want to grow up to be musicians, as well!\r\n\r\nAgain, I can't express my appreciation enough for your generous donation, and I hope you enjoy the pictures!","fullyFundedDate":1730733511736,"projectUrl":"project/mini-music-library/8865893/","projectTitle":"Mini-Music Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Von Mutius","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9797792_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1739983131551","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9797792"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103362","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1464,"numTeachers":55,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"5 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"26.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.2,"schoolId":103362,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cane Bay Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cane Bay Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/south-carolina/berkeley-county-school-district/cane-bay-middle-school/103362"}
