Through these texts, students are building essential literacy skills such as comprehension, vocabulary development, and critical thinking. We are able to practice making predictions, identifying main ideas, and drawing connections between the text and our own lives. These books also allow me to model important reading strategies like fluency, expression, and asking thoughtful questions while we read.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom is a special and structured part of our day. Students participate in read alouds, partner reading, and independent reading. During this time, students are fully immersed in their books, some reading quietly, others reading side by side with a partner, and many eagerly raising their hands to share their thinking. These new books have made it possible to provide more choice and variety, which has increased both excitement and confidence among my students.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were previously hesitant readers are now showing a genuine love for books. One student who used to avoid reading now eagerly picks up a book each day and asks if they can read more. Others are excited to share their favorite parts of a story or recommend books to their classmates. These moments are incredibly rewarding and would not be possible without your generosity. Your support is truly making a difference in helping my students grow as readers and learners.","fullyFundedDate":1766869260407,"projectUrl":"project/2nd-grade-dream-library/9885065/","projectTitle":"2nd Grade Dream Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Albee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8655946"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101906","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":555,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":18,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":61,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":82.1,"schoolId":101906,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Candeo Peoria School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Candeo Peoria School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/arizona-department-of-education/candeo-peoria/101906"}
