With your donation, I saw student engagement like I have never seen before, and the students were able to connect with the text on a deeper level. The the supplies, my students were able to pick a character, and provide a summarized character analysis based on the character they chose. In this activity, students were not only able to demonstrate information recall and comprehension, but were also able to show what they knew by adding an artistic feature in the form of a diorama. They really enjoyed making these, as it pushed the level of engagement form the usual reading circles that we normally do. Attached I have a couple samples of the work that my students were able to complete. \r\n\r\nWhile the project definitely gained the attention of my students, it also gained the attention of teachers and parents as well. People stopped by to check out the class projects, and were so surprised that students so young were completing a task such as this. I could also tell that the students enjoyed sharing these projects with their peers, and we even did a \"gallery walk\" in the classroom where they could observe and compliment one another, which made the lesson all that much more worth it. The students were so proud of themselves, and it reflected in their summative assessment of the novel as well. The new density cubes and cylinders have transformed our lessons from abstract concepts into real-world experiments. Students worked in small groups to measure the mass and volume of each cube and cylinder, calculate density, and then test their predictions by seeing which materials would sink or float in water. One particularly memorable moment came when students compared the aluminum and brass cubes—many were surprised to discover that two objects of the same size could have such different masses!\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were thrilled and asked me to unbox everything right away. The excitement in the room was contagious—students immediately began hypothesizing about which objects would float or sink and why. Having tangible, high-quality materials in their hands made them feel like real scientists conducting professional investigations. Their curiosity and collaboration throughout the lab were a joy to witness, and it was clear that this project sparked genuine enthusiasm for learning.\r\n\r\nNext, students will extend their understanding of density by applying it to real-world challenges, such as explaining why some objects float in saltwater but sink in freshwater, or designing small \"boats\" from various materials to test buoyancy and balance. Watching students collect precise data, make calculations, and discuss their results with genuine excitement has been such a rewarding experience. Your donation made it possible for every lab group to work efficiently and confidently with accurate, reliable measurements.\r\n\r\nWhen the scales first arrived, my students' faces lit up with curiosity and enthusiasm. They couldn't wait to test them out—placing objects on the scales and announcing their findings to one another like real scientists. This hands-on investigation will allow them to identify muscles, valves, and connective tissues, connecting what they've learned in diagrams to real-world biology. By seeing and touching the actual specimens, students will gain a deeper, lasting understanding of how living systems work—something no textbook alone can provide.\r\n\r\nWhen the boxes arrived, my students BEGGED me to stop class and open them up to see what's inside. The squeals of excitement and squeamishness made me laugh as everyone, eyes wide and laser-focused, saw what I lifted out of each box. As middle schoolers, this will be their first chance to perform a real biological dissection for nearly every student of mine, and it's inspiring to watch them look forward to a learning experience that feels truly scientific and meaningful.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we'll begin preparing for these dissections by studying organ structure, practicing with models, and reviewing proper lab safety and techniques.
