During circle time we shared one thing that brought us joy that day and many students shared that they were happy because they had a rug to sit on. Every student has chosen a happy face of their choice to use during read out loud time. \r\n\r\nMy students are learning how to read and can choose the rug as a comfy place to sit. As a first year teacher I wanted to make sure my classroom was a safe and comforting environment for all my students and thanks to you all it has been made possible. My students loved the items that were added to our calm corner. Not only was the area comforting but they were able to use the books to successfully help them regulate their emotions. The modified desk was also a great support for my students who have a harder time sitting still. They were able to independently access the desk whenever they had extra wiggles or needed space from their group peers. The stories in the books also helped with classroom management as many of my students later on what I had read to them.
