Over the past eight years I have watched my students have missing kitchen equipment that hinders them from completing the necessary projects in our class. My students are using these new resources when measuring cooking ingredients, to help keep time on food, and to keep or kitchen organized. When the students first saw these new items they were very excited. Many of these students I have had for 2 to 3 years. So seeing us get new materials makes them very happy. Then when I placed a piece of glass in between the news paper and started banging away, the faces lit up! Never had these kids seen a project like this, where they had to destroy beautiful glass to make something else that was beautiful. \r\nWe are a low income, Title 1 school so most of our kids have not traveled more that 60 miles in any direction from the town we live in, most had never heard of mosaics or seen one. So for them to experience this new technique was amazing! It is so hard to put into words, but each student was engaged, even the ones who just sit and do nothing! \r\nMost of my money is spent on paper, paint, markers, crayons, color pencils etc. so for you all to donate and allow these kids new experiences is awesome.
