Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in the way my students experience reading. Many of the new books have given my students opportunities to see themselves, their families, and their experiences represented in stories, while also introducing them to people, places, and ideas that may be different from what they know. Having a variety of books available has helped create more excitement around reading and has encouraged students to become more curious and confident readers.\r\n\r\nOne of the most important lessons these new texts introduce is that reading is about much more than simply saying the words on a page. As we read together, students practice making predictions, asking questions, identifying the main idea, making connections, and using evidence from the text to explain their thinking. We also talk about characters and their choices, how problems are solved, and how authors use words and illustrations to communicate a message. The new books give us opportunities to build vocabulary and reading comprehension while also having meaningful conversations about kindness, friendship, perseverance, differences, and understanding other people's perspectives. Students are learning that a good book can make you laugh, teach you something new, help you understand someone else, or even make you think differently about the world around you.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks different depending on the day. Sometimes we read together as a whole class, with me modeling how I think about a story and asking questions along the way. Other times, students read with a partner and take turns sharing their ideas. I also give students time to choose books independently and explore stories that interest them. One of my favorite parts of our reading time is watching students recommend books to one another. They get excited when they find a story they love and want their classmates to experience it, too. We often pause during reading to talk about what is happening, make predictions about what might happen next, or connect the story to something in our own lives. These conversations help students understand that reading is not a passive activity—it is something we actively participate in.\r\n\r\nI have especially enjoyed seeing some of my more hesitant readers become excited about choosing books. Students who may not always volunteer to read aloud or answer questions during lessons are often eager to look through the new books independently. The colorful illustrations, interesting characters, and different types of stories have helped some students find books that capture their attention. I have also noticed students who already enjoy reading becoming leaders in our classroom. They share recommendations with their classmates, help others find books they might enjoy, and proudly talk about the stories they have finished.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students something incredibly valuable: choice. Instead of seeing reading as simply another school assignment, they are beginning to see books as something they can enjoy, explore, and return to again and again. Every new book creates another opportunity for a student to learn a new word, discover a new idea, make a connection, or simply fall in love with reading.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in our classroom and in my students. Your generosity reaches far beyond the books themselves. You are helping create a classroom where students are encouraged to be curious, thoughtful, confident, and excited to learn. I am so grateful that you are helping us build a love of reading that I hope my students will carry with them for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1777979404865,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-classroom-library-grow/10227913/","projectTitle":"Help Our Classroom Library Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cochran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10486120_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777196693601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10486120"},{"teacherId":9929444,"projectId":10253056,"letterContent":"Thank You for Leveling Up Our Classroom Library! 📚💛\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generous donation to our third grade classroom! Many of our youngest readers are still developing the foundational skills needed for reading success. Learning to read involves more than recognizing letters—it also depends on visual tracking, focus, and attention to detail.\r\n\r\nThe seek-and-find books funded through this project have quickly become some of the most loved titles in our library. Students are drawn to their colorful pages and the challenge of finding hidden pictures. As they search, they strengthen their observation skills, improve visual discrimination, and practice persistence—all essential building blocks for literacy.\r\n\r\nThese books have also inspired joyful collaboration. It's common to see students gathered around a book, working together to find hidden objects and celebrating each discovery. For many reluctant or emerging readers, these books provide an accessible, confidence-building entry point into reading. They are learning that books can be fun, engaging, and rewarding—all while developing key reading skills.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our library now offers a collection that helps every child—especially those who need extra support—build the focus and stamina needed for reading success.
