It is consistently the first center to fill up during Free Choice Time. The variety of materials available has truly inspired their creativity, as they engage in building, sorting, counting, and expanding their vocabulary through communication with peers and adults.\r\n\r\nTo further enhance our thematic studies, I have developed several games and activities for the light table. For instance, in the \"Sorting & Counting Apples\" game, students roll a die and add the corresponding number of pompom apples to the appropriate color bowl. Additionally, we have incorporated materials like cardboard pieces and popsicle sticks, allowing children to construct bridges, while MagnaTiles are used to create houses. We are discovering that the possibilities for exploration and learning are limitless.\r\n\r\nPrior to receiving the generous contributions from Donors Choose, my Science Area supplies were quite limited. I cannot thank you enough for your support in enriching this part of my classroom. My students have truly embraced their roles as budding scientists, and your contributions have made a significant impact on their learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1742937025076,"projectUrl":"project/scientific-and-artistic-preschool-explor/9152711/","projectTitle":"Scientific and Artistic Preschool Explorers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9939484"},{"teacherId":9993845,"projectId":9246304,"letterContent":"our preschoolers were so excited when our snack supplies arrived! The children loved helping set out the new cups at snack timeāit gave them a sense of independence and pride.\r\n\r\nThe Kleenex has also been a huge help. With busy, active little ones, we go through tissues quickly, and now we have what we need to keep everyone comfortable and healthy. Instead of asking families to pitch in, we can provide these essentials right in the classroom.\r\n\r\nYour support made snack time smoother, cleaner, and more enjoyable for all of our preschoolers. I had been studying my preschool students all year, looking closely at what interested and excited them, what they were curious about. They conducted amazing and in-depth explorations at the water table, and there was not enough time for each student to get to engage there each day. I knew we needed to add another sensory center. \r\n\r\nReceiving the sand table from the Donor's Choose donors was a Game Changer in the classroom!!! The students were awed that a business of people ('grown ups'!) who did not even know them gave them a sand table to learn and be scientists at. They were so delighted at thankful!! The sand table is used every single day throughout our two hour-long center play times. The students are demonstrating their ability to conduct experiments with the flow of sand. This table is allowing me to teach academic vocabulary and math concepts such as volume and weight. This sand table will give me current and future students so much opportunity to learn in the classroom!!\r\n\r\nEverything on my Donor's Choose list has been an incredible addition to learning and support in the classroom. From the high chair in the dramatic play area (it increased my male students' interests in pretend and role play),to the materials for the science center; the science kit and microscope donated are supporting my students' scientific learning. I was blown away by the immediate, full donation that you made to my students and I. This year has been a particularly difficult year for many students dealing with lots of social/emotional needs. There are lots of students who have a difficult time regulating their bodies these days. \r\n\r\nUsing these tools helps students regulate their energy levels, emotions, and attention, so they can better engage in learning and classroom routine. \r\n\r\nOne of my students who has so much energy, now starts each morning in my classroom jumping on the trampoline. He counts while he jumps, fitting in some academics while getting his body ready for learning. He loves it! \r\n\r\nOne of the favorite sensory tools of many students are the vibrating neck pillows and vibrating pillows. They really help calm them down and enable the students to get their work completed. \r\n\r\nWhat I have particularly enjoyed watching is the increased Independence that students have shown in knowing when to request a tool: the students have learned which tools help them and when to use them. This self-awareness and self-regulation has helped to build confidence and independence in managing their own learning needs.\r\n\r\nI thank you again so much for your donation that has helped my students and I have a successful ending to our school year!","fullyFundedDate":1739760579058,"projectUrl":"project/enhance-students-well-being-with-sensor/9116995/","projectTitle":"Enhance Students' Well-Being with Sensory Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kimball","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/849867"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_25439","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":266,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":70.0,"schoolId":25439,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Butterworth Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Butterworth Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/illinois/moline-coal-valley-school-district-no-40/butterworth-elementary-school/25439"}
