I am preschool teacher in a school with a very high poverty rate. I have 20 students in the morning and 20 in the afternoon. They are so smart! They love books, counting items around the room, and are curious about the world around them. Many of my students come from difficult life situations, and school is their 'happy place'. They are the shining star of their families, a ray of hope. A lot of my students need extra help learning letters and their sounds, counting objects one by one, and working together to build their social-emotional skills. I use RtI to work with students each day on reinforcing skills that will prepare them for their future.
