When the students came in and saw the new nets, paddles and pickleballs, the joy and excitement radiated off them. We discussed the history of pickleball, watched a video and We jumped right into learning the basics—how to hold the paddle, rally with a partner, and work as a team. The best part? Even students who were hesitant about sports found confidence and enjoyment in the game! Later that day in the lunchroom, there was a buzz of pickleball conversations. \r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far was during a serving practice game. Students were cheering for and encouraging a student who does not normally show a lot of emotion in class. They served an excellent ball and won the mini game beaming with pride and excitement. This moment showed how activity and movement can build confidence and teamwork in all.\r\n\r\nWe have improved our hand-eye coordination, strategies and sportsmanship skills and are now ready to tackle gameplay soon. The donation of this equipment has enabled our students to explore the game of pickleball and generate the building blocks of lifelong skills that can be used in many activities not just pickleball.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without you and your support.
