Our new books of acting scenes, monologues, and improv games have been used regularly, and the students love the selection! The main activities that we have completed thus far are partner acting scenes, and the students will perform those next week!\r\n\r\nI have many students who are beginners and have never acted on stage until recently. They are very eager and are thirsty for more! If I let them only do acting projects all day, every day, some of them would be in heaven! The improv book has allowed them to explore new characters and emotions that add to higher-quality acting projects. I will be able to use these scene and monologue books over and over again for many years to come. \r\n\r\nAlso, the notebooks have been great for drafting ideas, writing characterizations for their scenes, and taking notes. We store all of these items on the carts that were purchased as well. The cart has proven to be a lifesaver when we travel across campus to reach the stage. \r\n\r\nThis project was beyond helpful for both my students and me. I cannot wait to see what else we can create with our acting projects because of your generosity!","fullyFundedDate":1755715416417,"projectUrl":"project/act-one-take-the-stage/9301162/","projectTitle":"Act One: Take the Stage","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Calhoun","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6710633_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657637972741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6710633"},{"teacherId":6710633,"projectId":8982464,"letterContent":"We had an absolute blast practicing and playing with stage makeup this past week and it is all thanks to your generosity in supporting our theatre classes. \r\n\r\nAs you can see from the pictures, the students enjoyed the fantasy and special-effects makeup the most! They loved that our admin team allowed them to wear their creations around the school building as well to show their friends. I was so excited when other teachers stopped by and the students could tell them exactly how they created the different designs. Everyone was all smiles and I could not be happier as to how it turned out. They all unleashed a new level of theatre fun and I love it!\r\n\r\nThey cannot wait to \"play\" in the makeup again. This week we first practiced traditional student stage makeup and old-age stage makeup. They also learned how to find their own facial bones and structures in order to best put the makeup on with the most impact in order to build a proper character design. \r\n\r\nI also loved how they worked together on these projects! One picture shows how the entire class was helping each other or working on their own makeup. What a terrific level of student collaboration. Students have been using it for various projects to create there drawings and paintings with more confidence. \r\n\r\nThe students are able to move around the classroom freely and stand or sit with their easel to work on their artwork. They have like feeling like they are able to work like real artists which they are. The students have been able to work more independently and confidently this way.
