The snacks, sensory tools, and materials for creating personalized learning activities are already making a meaningful difference in our daily routines.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the snacks as part of both learning and motivation during small group instruction and structured play. Many of my students have food aversions or very specific preferences, so having a variety of snacks available has helped us find items that truly motivate them. One special moment happened during a learning center where students were practicing turn-taking and communication. A student who usually avoids group activities was excited to participate because they knew their preferred snack was available as a reward. They waited their turn, communicated their choice, and celebrated with their peers when it was their turn. Moments like that help build confidence and positive connections with learning.\r\n\r\nThe laminating sheets and Velcro have allowed me to quickly create durable, individualized activities for my students. I've been making matching games, visual schedules, and hands-on reading and math activities based on each child's interests. When the students first saw the new materials, they were immediately curious and eager to explore. They especially loved the interactive pieces that they could move and manipulate. For many of my learners, hands-on materials make abstract concepts much easier to understand.\r\n\r\nThe sensory tools have also made a noticeable impact on our classroom environment. The light covers have helped soften the brightness of the room, and the calming tools give students a safe way to regulate their bodies when they begin to feel overwhelmed. Students are learning how to recognize when they need a break and how to use these tools to help themselves get ready to learn again.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our lessons this semester, we will keep building personalized activities using these materials to support reading, math, and communication goals. We are also working on increasing independence by teaching students how to use visual supports and sensory tools on their own. These resources are helping create a classroom where every student can participate, feel successful, and grow.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students a classroom that supports their learning, their comfort, and their confidence. Your generosity is truly making a difference in their daily experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1763498218364,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-minds-hearts-snacks-sensory/9789776/","projectTitle":"Fueling Minds & Hearts: Snacks, Sensory Tools, and Personalized Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sullivan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10300076"},{"teacherId":8378835,"projectId":9561240,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, my students and I have been able to enjoy healthy snacks during our school day, and it has made a bigger difference than you might expect! The new snacks have helped my students stay focused, energized, and ready to learn, especially during long lessons or group activities. Just the other day, we were in the middle of a challenging math project, and having a quick snack on hand gave my students the boost they needed to keep problem-solving and collaborating without feeling distracted or hungry.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the snacks, their excitement was contagious! They couldn't believe that someone cared enough to help fuel their learning in such a thoughtful way. It created a moment of joy and gratitude in the classroom and even sparked conversations about healthy choices and sharing with classmates.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using the snacks as a way to support learning and participation, especially during reading time, hands-on activities, and long group projects.
