Your donation has had a tremendous impact on our students and how they learn math.\r\n\r\nFor many students, math can feel abstract and disconnected from real life. But with graphing calculators, those abstract concepts suddenly become visual, interactive, and much easier to understand. Students are now able to see the shapes of equations, test hypotheses instantly, and explore math in a hands-on way that wasn't possible before.\r\n\r\nWhat's most exciting for them is being able to manipulate functions and immediately see the results on the screen. It turns problem-solving into a more dynamic and rewarding experience. They're not just learning formulas—they're understanding why they work.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who previously struggled with math have really embraced this new tool. With the calculators, they're more engaged, more confident, and even helping their peers. It's incredible to witness the shift in attitude and performance that the right tools can inspire.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are learning in deeper, more meaningful ways—and enjoying it. You've helped make math come alive for them, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1742943533210,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-learning-through-graphing-cal/9135958/","projectTitle":"Empowering Learning Through Graphing Calculators","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9933327"},{"teacherId":9933327,"projectId":9135962,"letterContent":"I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to you for your generous support of our project, Empowering Students for Success – Providing Essential School Supplies. Because of you, our classroom became a place not only of learning, but of confidence, dignity, and preparation.\r\n\r\nWhen the binders, folders, organizers, and snacks arrived, you would've thought it was a holiday. Students were excited to receive materials that, for many, would've otherwise been out of reach. These weren't just supplies—they were tools of empowerment. One student told me, \"Now I actually feel like I have my life together,\" as she proudly labeled each divider in her binder. Another, who previously kept his notes in a torn folder, showed off his new organizer and said, \"This is going to help me actually find my homework.\"\r\n\r\nThese small changes made a big difference. Organizational tools allowed students to better track their assignments, take ownership of their learning, and show up prepared. I've seen a noticeable improvement in how students manage their time and materials, which has translated into better performance and fewer missed assignments.\r\n\r\nThe snacks—seemingly simple—were just as impactful. For students who sometimes come to school hungry, having something to eat in the morning or between classes helped them stay focused and energized. One morning, I caught a quiet thank-you from a student who grabbed a granola bar before our first period and said, \"I didn't have breakfast today. This helps a lot.\"\r\n\r\nIt's hard to put into words how deeply your support has been felt in our classroom. These supplies weren't just things—they were a message to my students that someone believes in their potential and wants them to succeed. That kind of belief carries further than any lesson plan ever could.\r\n\r\nFrom my students and from me: thank you. Your kindness made a real difference.","fullyFundedDate":1741151573683,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-for-success-provid/9135962/","projectTitle":"Empowering Students for Success – Providing Essential School Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9933327"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_96268","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":167,"numTeachers":13,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":66,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":96268,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brooklyn Democracy Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brooklyn Democracy Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/brooklyn-democracy-academy/96268"}
