Our classroom is a space that students use to reset and find the regulation that they need. While the classes can get chaotic (this is middle school, after all), my classroom has become a safe space that students use when dysregulated during my prep and lunch times as well.\r\n\r\nMany of my students need something to do with their hands while learning. They learn best when able to be active or keep themselves slightly occupied with other activities. As a result, the fidgets and art supplies have been instrumental. Students utilize fidgets during class and understand how to use them respectfully and responsibly. The art supplies provide those with creative minds a chance to color or doodle while listening to instruction -- and they're doing a great job of staying engaged and transitioning to independent work time.\r\n\r\nLast, decor and organizational supplies have created an environment that is welcoming and warm. Students comment on enjoying walking in to a classroom that feels well-planned and less chaotic than a classroom filled with overwhelmingly bright colors or excessive levels of decor.
